How much to run and workout in a week?

Running . Training Report

Running Diary Week 2 of 2023

My Weekly Training Report – Mileage and Strength Training

Are wondering how much to run, and finding training plans online that seem unrealistic? Do the training plans you find online seem daunting, and overwhelming? Do people actually run that much?!

Well, you are not alone. I was overwhelmed with the plans I found, and despite trying them, I was never able to 100% followed them. (and that’s Okay!) I share my weekly reports to give you a sense of what I do in a week, which may be helpful for you.

So you are wondering, how much running and strength training should you be doing in a week?

Well, there is no perfect answer. There is no magic number for how much to run. This will vary depending on your fitness level, and what you can realistically fit into your schedule, and what your goals are.

Here is how much I ran the week of January 08, 2023.

Daily Details

Sunday – This is normally my long run day, but I had a Brit to attend in the morning, so I ended up skipping my run for the day.

Monday – I did about 15 minutes of glute and core activation before my run. I followed my daily suggested run from my Garmin Watch, which was a Threshold run. I was suppose to aim for 180bpm, but although I was running strong and fast, I did not quite hit the 180bpm. I wore my Adidas Adios 6.

Tuesday – After Monday’s run my nose just did not stop running, and been sneezing. I was not feeling the best on Tuesday, so I took a complete rest day.

Wednesday – I was feeling better, so got back on schedule. I did 25 minutes of strength, and had a short easy run! I wore Adidas Boston 9.

Thursday – I felt that I needed to add in some strength workout, so spent an hour doing cardio and strength at home before going out for a short easy run. (Shoes – Adidas Boston 9)

Friday – Rest Day

Saturday – I observe Sabbath, which is the Day of Rest, so no matter my schedule Saturday is always a built in rest day for me.
