Daily Details
Sunday – Sunday is for Long Easy Runs. Yet, it did not feel easy today. I did 6.5 miles on the trail. Read about my run here.
Monday – I sure needed a rest day here. I did a little pilates/ stretching in the AM, and then 55 minutes of strength in PM. In hindsight I should have focused more on stretching in PM too, and not done strength.
Tuesday – I was feeling great today! I was feeling so good I decided to go for short easy run in the AM. I did 2 miles in AM. In the evening I was still feeling great, did about 30 minutes of activation/ warm up and went for 2.5 easy mile run. Although I felt amazing at the time, I don’t think this was best decision.
Wednesday – Here is when I start feeling the impact of the miles and workouts. Was feeling little tired, so did not spend too much time with activation and warm up, and just wanted to hit the road. The run started off well, until I got a pain in my left knee! This knee has never given me trouble. It was not terrible, so I pushed through it. I am pretty sure this pain is related to my quads being so tight.
Thursday – I am still in pain Thursday morning, and obviously decided not to run today. I focus on stretching and flexibility today. Man, my quads, calves, glutes are tight! You know when you try stretching them you realize how tight they are. Well, let me say stretching them was not fun, but I know it is what I need.
Reflection
I think I was a little too heavy on the workouts and mileage at the start of the week. Skipping my normal rest day/ stretching routine on Mondays following my Long Run was a mistake. Running twice on Tuesday without having real rest day, and having increased my mileage on Sunday was not the best decision.
Skipping a warm out on Wednesday was not the best decision. I was do for a Rest Day, and should have skipped running Wednesday, and tried for Thursday instead. Thinking I could have done Wednesday and Thursday without rest was not well thought out.
Also I think its interesting to see that my Body Battery was lower on Wednesday. This should have been a sign that I needed a Rest Day, and my body was not yet recovered.
I will focus on stretching, and make sure to not skip my rest days!
