Adidas Adizero Takumi Sen 9 – Initial Thoughts

The Adidas Takumi Sen 9 is the most recently released version of the Takumi Sen Series. I have the Takumi Sen 7, and I love them. The Takumi Sen is a fast shoe, and I was excited to try a newer version. The Takumi Sen is advertised as a lightweight race shoe, and can also be used for speed workouts.

Since I have been searching for a shoe to replace my Adidas Boston 9 running shoes I have been looking at shoes a lot. I had been eyeing the Takumi Sen 8, and was hoping to catch them when they went on sale.

At the time the solar green colorway was $90, but they did not have my size. The other two colors were still full price at $180, and they had my size, so I would keep checking every so often.

As luck would have it, by the time I see that the other colorways are on sale my size is sold out.

So now I start looking at the Takumi Sen 9. At $180, I just can’t do it. I look at them often though. Then one day I notice how there is only one left in my size! I had remembered that I received a 20% coupon in an email recently, so I look back for it, and went ahead and ordered them.

Let me just say, they are Beautiful.

I purchased the Pulse Mint / Lucid Fuchsia / Lucid Blue colorway in Size 6. I am normally a 7.5 Women’s. (I have 6.5 in Takumi Sen 7, and they are a tad too long so I went down a size). The size 6 fit my foot perfectly. I was so happy! Especially since I am having such a difficult time finding a daily trainer, it was so exciting for the shoe to just fit well.

I have not yet had a chance to take them on a run, but I look forward to it! I am thinking that these may become my new 5K/10K Race shoes, and use my Nike Streakflys for speed. That is just based on the fact the Takumi Sen 9 has the Carbon Infused EnergyRods, so I thought it may be better for Races compared to the Nike Streakfly which does not have a plate. I can see these also being an amazing running shoe for Speed Workouts, which is what I use my Adidas Takumi Sen 7 Running Shoes for.
