Most of us have the Adidas Sambas, so it makes sense to compare any new shoes to them. Adidas Sambas are beloved. If you are looking for something fresh, or to stand out from the crowd, ALOHAS are the shoe for you.
I had been eyeing the ALOHAS for some time since seeing them at Anthropolgie, but was not sure about sizing.
I purchased them while I was in Madrid. I purchased the this white color way. Now I can share with you everything I wanted to know before buying the ALOHAS sneakers.
I wear a size 5.5M/6.5W in the Adidas Samba.
The size tag of my Adidas Sambas is US 5.5, UK 5, FR 38, JP 235, CHN 235.
These fit snug on me with my foot hitting the end. This is how I like it. I have tried the next size up but they were too long, and my heel slipped.
I bought the ALOHAS tb.490 in women’s size US 7-7.5. This is equivalent to a EUR 38, UK 5, 24.4 cm.
The ALOHAS tb.490 sneaker have a more tapered toe box, which means the toe box is narrower, and longer.
In comparison, the fit and sizing is very different. For me the UK and EU sizing were the same, but not the US sizing.

ADIDAS Samba have a slimmer silhouette, and are thinner sole. Adidas Samba have more ground feel than the ALOHAS.

ALOHAS have more cushioning in the insole, and tongue, and I find them more comfortable in terms of cushioning. I prefer the fit and sizing of Adidas Sambas, and appreciate the ground feel. The ground feel of the Adidas Samba makes it feel like a snug driving loafer or ballet flat.
ALOHAS are more cushioned than Adidas Samba.
I do love the Alohas, and do wear them. They definitely do not replace the Sambas. The Alohas are a great less seen sneaker, if your looking for something to add to your collection.
Nothing will replace my Adidas Samba.
Now let’s talk about pricing. At $180 USD they are more expensive than Sambas at $100. Considering the price of some of the other classic sneakers on the market, these are on the lower end.
